Our story

More than barbecue. An Atlanta family legacy.

For generations, the Wyatt family has been connected to Atlanta barbecue. The family's barbecue business history reaches back to the 1960s and remains rooted in Kirkwood.

Oscar Wyatt has worked in barbecue since the 1960s. He and his brother Henry opened an Atlanta barbecue restaurant, and at one point the Wyatt family operated six restaurants.

Around 1983, Sgt. Wyatt's Country BBQ moved to approximately its present location at 1674 Memorial Drive SE. Wyatt's has remained a Kirkwood fixture for more than 40 years, connected to the Wyatt family and generations of customers.

The family barbecue sauce recipe has been used for decades, alongside traditional Southern cooking, family recipes, and the relationships that have sustained the restaurant through generations.
